My Great Etsy Shop Debate

Are to many items in an Etsy Shop to much? That is my great debate with my shop right now. I have the one shop that has everything from my all natural body products, upcycled aprons and bags, vintage books, supplies that I have been given but will never use and now add in all my crocket/knit winter items.... wow that is a lot. Before I add in all the winter warmth items, I am at over 300 for sale items and that isn't all of the aprons and bags! So my am in the thought process of creating a 2nd shop for vintage/supplies and maybe the upcycled items to help cut down on the high numbers in one shop. I get tons of views everyday but I am thinking they are overwhelmed by the large amount of items to sort through that they buy from another shop. Any thoughts from other shop owners?

  1. I sell very different sorts of things, too--not as varied as you but handmade chocolates, vintage linens, other vintage, occasionally some upcycled stuff. I have chosen to stick with one shop because a) I don't want the organizational hassles of having two shops and b) I tell myself that it's fun for shoppers to have variety. Is that how they see it? I don't know. I'll be interested to hear what others say on the subject!

  2. I had split my shop on Etsy for the very same reason...thinking that too much was going on ....for almost 1.5 to 2 years I managed two shops, it was too much work but I couldn't decide on to merge them back. Then we moved from Dallas to Singapore!..and now I'm starting over, I have merged it all, I like to do a lot of stuff... that's me! I'll be opening my shop soon with all kinds of different stuff, as I know how hard it is to manage two accounts and honestly I don't believe that it makes any difference if you have two shops instead of one (tried & tested) just because of the fear of too much variety. Just my two cents!
