Just Keep Going: Inspirational Wednesday

It is hard to believe its Wednesday already, but Lily and I had about 2 weeks of being sick (again) and we are still recovering with a nasty cough. I know its that time of year but it truly stinks when you are so busy that other things in your life suffer but that is when you try to do your best and keep going. If I don't get a scarf made today there is still tomorrow. I don't think anyone is going to cry over a scarf not getting done. I LOVE Sex in the City, especially the quotes, because as a single woman it is inspiring to see women go through things that we all go through at some point or another. Instead of beating ourselves up, looking back at the regrets and things could have changed, sometimes we just need to let go of what could have been and look forward at what will be!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Change Your Thoughts: Inspirational Wednesday

When life is getting you down, changing a single thought from negative to positive can change the outlook and outcome of the situation. I truly believe in the power of positive thinking and how its power can change your life for the better. Every situation may not be ideal but if you can see the positive in it then you will feel better about yourself and your life. Try to change one thought into a positive one today and tell me how you feel?

Everyone fears something whether its bugs, darkness, airplanes, relationships (me) or anything else in life. There comes a point in your life where you must face those fears and conquer them. This time might be one that you choose or one that you are forced into but either way after you conquer that fear you come out a stronger person. You are not alone in facing your fears, everyday someone faces a fear but the difference can be whether we run from the fear or conquer it! Don't hide from your fear, Go out there and conquer them!

What is Truly Important?

I love inspirational Wednesday because I find quotes that truly speak to me. For so many years, I was missing the mark with what was important to me and my life. I would put whatever was important to other people as my top priority. I would change things in my life or even myself for what was important to them. What is important to me is my happiness, living my life the way I want and being who I am everyday. I am the one who creates my own happiness and that is what is the most important reminder I have for my life.

What is important to you?

Today We Are All Going To Be Happy

Groucho Marx really hit it on the head with how I am feeling on this inspirational Wednesday. Being in Al-Anon and having been to AA and NA meetings with friends, the groups all live on the theme Just for Today. On my forearm, I have a tattoo that reads "No Day But Today" (ok all you musical/Broadway lovers: what musical is that from??). Despite my constant reminder that we only have today to live, I am always forgetting and thinking about tomorrow or even worse regretting yesterday, last year or even 10 years ago.

Groucho Marx reminds us that we only have today so be sure to be happy today. Things might be a struggle in my life right now but I feel lucky to have today considering we are approaching the anniversaries of the deaths of 2 very special people in my life. So be happy and live each day to the fullest because we never know when it will be our last today!

When One Door Closes, Another Door Opens

When One Door Closes, Another Door Opens! This is something that I am a firm believer in after many years of ups and downs in my life. At the moment of defeat, I do not always see that open door. The open door is right there smacking me in the face but I want to focus on the door that just closed. Well  right now in my life, one door is about to close and I am trying to find my open door. Summer months are never very high for retail sales, which is costly on my home bills. Due to weather either being rain on the weekends or extreme high temps with high humidity, people haven't been in a shopping mood. So now we are facing eviction from our home. Now don't think that I am looking for sympathy because I am not. This is just showing people that the US economy is still in a place where people are secure in their finances but there is always light at the end of the dark tunnel. Life is never perfect but if we make it the best we can at this moment then we can be proud of our lives. So continue to look for your open doors because they are always there!

Here are some open doors that I like:

Give A Little for the Animals

After seeing people come together and help the victims of the Oklahoma tornado disaster, I decided that each month I am going to find a charity (either local, national or worldwide) to donate 25% of my sales. I have always believed that people have something to give whether its money, time, skills, items and more so I try my part in giving back in whatever way I can in my life. I am teaching Lily the same beliefs so this charity is for my animal lover.  So for the month of July 25% of my sales and 25% of Lily's yard sale profits are being donated to Common Sense for Animals.

Common Sense for Animals is an organization in Warren County, New Jersey that helps to educate people on the welfare of animals. The organization has pet adoption programs, pet therapy programs, run a feral cat program to help stray cats, southern dog rescue program, and many other programs. For kids, the organization offers a  kid party where they can invite friends to have a party, play with the animals in the shelter and learn how more about animals. They hold different educational classes/seminars and visit local schools to educate people on the proper way to care for a pet. Throughout the year, Common Sense for Animals holds different fund raisers to finance the programs and animals they help like a marathon walk/run, golf tournament, tricky tray, bake sale and more. This is a great organization and if you would like to find out more details or to donate directly to them please click: Common Sense for Animals  If you would like to purchase something for my shop and 25% is donated to the organization please click: Red Shoe Affair Etsy Shop

Faith Over Fear Inspirational Wednesday

This wall plaque was recently given to me because it was my colors without realizing I also collect quotes. I love quotes because words are so strong. Words can change a person's life. You can read something and smile, cry, become angry or be inspired to do something great!

The quote "Let your Faith be bigger than your Fear." is something that speaks to me because being a single mom that works for herself is a scary thing. The days that I have doubts about what I am doing, I just keep faith in God and in myself that I am doing the best that I can do for myself and for my daughter. Faith is not just having faith in God which most people think when they hear that word. Faith can be in anything you believe bigger then yourself. Faith can be in other people. Faith can be in yourself which is something you should always possess because you are wonderful!

So go through your day having faith that you are doing the best you can for you and let go of your fears.

Dr. Seuss to Brighten Your Wednesday

Today is Inspirational Wednesday and I came across this picture yesterday on Pinterest in the Do It Yourself section but the quote is what spoke to me. I am a HUGE quote person because words speak to my heart. I know that people have the sayings like "sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never hurt you" or "Actions speak louder then words" but to me words speak to your heart and soul in a way that actions will never be able to.

I am an avid book reader and have been since I was young because the words on those pages told me things that adults couldn't show me. Even now, I become enraptured in a story because those words are showing and telling me that someone in my life has not been able to. Lily has inherited my love of books especially Dr. Seuss books so this quote by him seems very fitting at the moment. As a single mom that works for herself, there are always mountains to climb and stresses to relieve. Some days are easier then others but each day has its challenges especially on one income. Each day has its small blessings that I get to look forward to as I  am on my way to great places.  As the Dr. Seuss says, today is my day and my mountain is waiting to be climbed! Go climb your mountain today!
